Divorce in Bible , Matthew Chap 5 V 31-32

Let us Meditate on the above.

Jesus speaks on Divorce. It is astonishing that something terrible and heart breaking decision is explained in just two sentences.

This is what I really like about Jesus speaking to us. He makes things clear and simple to understand yet so difficult to follow.

Verse 31: Speaking of the old law of Divorce.

Jesus reminds people about how divorce was in ancient times. There were not many implications around it.

Verse 32: Jesus elaborates the law. He says " But I tell you, one who divorces his wife except for sexual immortality makes her a victim of adultery"

There is a very deep meaning to this sentence. There is a husband and a wife. And the only thing that will be the reason for the cause of seperation would be sexual immortality.

When a married couple is joint together in marriage and they are one, there is a very special bond between the two. Which cannot be easily broken. By the very act of being one, somewhere their souls are one. It is very very difficult to break up on reasons apart from loyalty.

If a wife is found in adultery only then the husband is allowed to divorce her.

But reasons like she doesn't take care of me, she won't take care of the kids, she won't work are non of the reasons mentioned here. So problems are a part and parcel of marriage and things will get better eventually if we pray and try to work things out.

but what if we don't?

If the husband divorces his wife for reasons other than adultery, he makes her a victim of adultery.

So the wife is blamed for being adulteress and is divorced but if not, what if the man is is not faithful? what if he divorces for his selfish needs. He makes her prone to adultery. He is responsible for her state ,along with her.

So if a woman is divorced she should seek love at the least. Someday somewhere God will surely put the right person for her in her life.

Because God so dearly loves a righteous woman. He will never let injustice happen to her. No haste in proving that you are worth much more or seek revenge.

You will only be open to committing adultery from your side. You won't be pure but be a victim of adultery

Stay Calm and trust the Lord.

Jesus has said these words very carefully, both for husband and wife.

The last line says " One who marries a divorced woman, commits adultery"

This Law is like an equation. By the first two sentences we know why divorce can be acceptable. Here Jesus says there a person who marries a divorced woman,

That is according to law, a divorce can occur only under the circumstance of adultery and non other. Hence a divorce shows that a person was accused of adultery and the one who marries one adulteress is also partaking in adultery.

How simple yet so difficult to follow. May all who you read this have a happy and blessed married life in Jesus Name :) Amen
